For this post, it’s just a little photo slideshow with some explanation. Enjoy.
This was taken in February 2020. The big tree is lychee. To give you an idea of scale, we can barely reach the bottom of the canopy with an extended picker. Bea would climb the tree in Crocs, even in her 70’s, and then prune large branches with fruit. Dad would be on the ground and pull them away and take off the fruit. Some lychee now. These are good frozen, too. Travelers tip: if you freeze them and they are rock solid at the very last agricultural check at the gate, you can take them back to the mainland. We don’t have much shade-grown coffee. Here are a few, under the lychee. The red cherries were picked at the end of July. It will be time to pick again soon. It takes multiple passes. With all the rain we’ve been getting, other unwanted greenery is growing. We can’t mow since our terrain is too rocky. This will be weed whacked.
LYCHEE CAN I ORDER?
Sorry, no. It’s just one of the many other edibles we have on the land that for now are just for personal sharing & consumption.
